COVID vaccinations: You can now book for your booster (3rd) dose if it has been AT LEAST 3 months or more since your 2nd vaccination and you are 18 yrs and older. 

Appointments are available now. Book online (preferably), or call us. If you not a patient you can  book via the BookMyVaccine website.

Registered patients 5 yrs and over can book online for their COVID vaccination at 108 Ridge Rd, Howick  Please read about the process on the day and the screening questions before entering here.

Please allow at least 2 weeks from the timing of receiving flu vaccine.


We are doing COVID swabbing (rapid antigen testing and PCR) at the practice daily during weekdays. You can call reception or book online for an appointment if you have mild cold symptoms or with the doctor if you feel very unwell.

Howick Health and Medical Centre is fortunate to have a group of experienced compassionate well qualified doctors with a variety of skills to provide high quality care to the local Howick area as well as the surrounding suburbs.

​A random survey (National Patient Experience Survey that is conducted nationally) in 2018 showed all  patients surveyed rated our doctors in the areas of 'kindness and understanding' and 'treated with respect' at 100%!  Latest 2021 random anonymous survey can be seen here. Note we are the blue dots.

This random survey repeated in August 2019, 2020 and 2021 rated our GPs and nurses 'treated our patients with respect, kindness and understanding' at 100%!  This survey also showed the practice's communication (in 11 areas including 'GP or nurse listen to you', GP or nurse explanations are easy to understand') was rated at 9.2/10  (national average 8.4/10). Reception staff were rated at 95.5% for 'treating patients with respect'.

We are currently accepting new patients.
As well as providing general health care for your family, we also perform well person checks, travel health checks, and skin cancer surgery.

We are a teaching practice that involves participation in a Continuous Improvement Programme that strives to deliver high quality patient-centred health care. 

We can usually accommodate your request for an urgent appointment on the same day. Just  call us and we'll do our best to help.

25.3.22: Flu vaccines have now arrived. You can book online, call or email us. They will be administered in the car park so please call upon arrival for your appointment.

Managing COVID-19 at home. Link

Have you planned for COVID-19 in your household? See this check list.

Under the red setting of the COVID-19 framework protection we will continue to utilise virtual (phone and video) consultations however such consults will increase. We will only bring you in for an examination if it is deemed necessary by the doctor (after taking a history while you are in the car park) -you can indicate your desire to be examined when booking online however please note this is not guaranteed. Please refer to the Ministry of Health's website for up to date information.  If you have ANY cold symptoms (eg. fever, headache, runny nose, sore throat, new onset muscle ache, tiredness or cough) please DO NOT come in and book for a swab if mild or for a phone consult.

Dr. Vallings will be retiring at the end of January 2022. She will no longer be accepting new patients. Please see her staff profile for more information.

CURRENT CASES.
As per MOH website please have a swab on day 5 and day 12 and self isolate for 14 days. Please call and book for your COVID swab with us. We will make time slots available  COVID swabbing.  Time slots will be updated on a daily basis.


RESULTS
You will be encouraged to access the patient portal for your results by your doctor so please register by clicking to the right and fill in the patient portal consent form. Only significantly abnormal results will be informed otherwise you can call the nurse or healthcare assistant for your normal results.

Novel coronovirus (Covid-19): 
If you have cold symptoms (ie 1 or more of the following-  fever, runny nose, cough, headache, muscle aches, fatigue) PLEASE let reception know at the time of booking your appointment. PLEASE DO NOT COME INTO THE PRACTICE AND WAIT IN YOUR CAR AND CALL US. It is important to adhere to the above instructions for the safety of our vulnerable patients and our staff.
